Setting up MyWays for the first time
Give MyWays some permissions
Like many apps, MyWays needs certain permissions to work. It might ask for permission to access storage like photos and media. Don’t worry, the app will never try to access any of your photos or media. But it does need this permission in order to store data from the app like your history of journeys, and that’s the only data stored on your phone it will ever try to access.
To figure out your journeys without you having to enter all that information, it needs to be able to access your location from time to time in the background. Your phone will probably ask if you want to grant location permission ‘never’, ‘only this one time’, ‘while using the app’, or ‘always’. Please select ‘always’. If ‘always’ isn’t given as an option, please select ‘While using the app’ - your phone will probably ask you later if you want to let MyWays access your location ‘always’. Please select ‘always’ if a pop up appears later. That doesn’t mean it will be getting your location all the time, it just means that it will be able to do so when it needs to.
On Android phones, it also needs to manage battery usage so it can work its magic using as little power as possible so please select ‘Allow’ if your phone asks you about battery optimisation.

Wait a day or two for the first journeys to appear
When you first open the app, you’ll see a map of the world with a blank area below. Once you’ve made a few journeys, a list of journeys will start to appear in that blank area. It can take as much as a day or two before you start seeing your journeys. Check back from time to time.

Using your journey history
Edit journey details with a double tap
You can edit the details of any leg of a journey to correct any errors or add further information like the fuel type of the car you used. Just scroll to the journey that you want to edit and tap it to show all the legs. Then double tap the leg you want to edit and the edit screen will appear.
Add a missing journey with the ‘plus’ button or ‘add leg’ button.
Has the app missed part of your movements? If it missed a whole journey, click the ‘plus’ button at the bottom right of the ‘Journeys’ screen to add the journey manually. On the other hand, if the app already got some of the journey, but didn’t detect a leg (like a walk to the bus stop), tap the journey in the list to expand the legs and reveal the ‘Add leg’ button.
Tip: If you’re adding a whole journey, just enter the start and end times and addresses and select the modes that you used then hit save. If you want to add further details, like the times of each leg, just double tap on the legs in the journey list and edit the details.
Tip: If your most recent journeys are missing, it might be a good idea to wait for a day before adding them manually because sometimes it takes a day or so for the app to automatically detect a journey.
Delete journeys or legs by swiping to the left.
You can delete a leg or whole journey by swiping to the left and then click the trash can icon.
Tip: You’ll get a brief chance to undo if you delete something by accident.
Turn off of pause location polling in the app’s menu.
If you want to stop the app collecting location information, tap to the menu icon in the top left of the screen and select ‘Travel options’. You can pause the collection of location data for a set period of time or turn it off indefinitely until you turn it back on with the ‘Resume now’ button.
Submit journeys with correct details to help transport planners and operators make transport better.
If the details of a journey are correct, click the ‘Submit’ button so that transport planners and operators can make informed decisions based on our actual travel needs.
Toggle to see ‘All’ journeys including the ones that disappear after clicking ‘Submit’
The journey list is like an inbox. New journeys get added for you to check. When you click ‘Submit’ on a journey it gets archived so that your list of journeys to check gets smaller. To see all your journeys including the ones you’ve submitted, click the ‘All/Inbox’ toggle at the top right of the journeys screen.
