Collaborating with experts in the Electric Vehicle space

We are working together with the CARDIFF University Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence and their specialist team of researchers. With their extensive experience in EV technologies and charging infrastructure, they've been actively addressing the barriers preventing the widespread introduction of EVs. From the technological, regulations to user attitudes.
Furthermore the University has an active NetZero mandate engaging with students, staff and stakeholders across Cardiff and Wales.
This project sets out to address the following DfT Strategic Priorities and innovation needs:
- Improve transport for the user by helping them decarbonise their transport habits and travel in a more economic way
- Reduce environmental impacts through education, analyses and converting ICE car owners to EVs
- Increase our global impact with a solution that can be exported due to multi-country capability
- Grow and strengthen the UK manufacturing and knowledge economy by building new local EV and battery expertise
Personalisation made simple, to make being greener easier
Transportation is one of the biggest contributors to the climate crisis, and within that emissions from roadgoing internal combustion engine (ICE) cars are the single biggest group by far. However many ICE car owners want greener choices and are concerned that range anxiety, charging deserts and ownership costs making moving to an electric vehicle (EV) and impossibility.
The ICE-2-EV TRIG 2021 study is funded by the Department for Transport TRIG programme to investigate a number of variables and test out new battery charging analyses algorithms, fieldtest smartphone software, UI/UX developments and engage with everyday prospective EV buyers. The EVCurious app automatically logs journeys so you don't have to, and shows you the emissions for each leg and each mode of transport. As well as automatically carbon footprinting your travels we count your calories from active travel too, because there are so many great ways to greenify transport. Our scalable personalisation helps reveal if an EV could works for you, while also highlighting the virtues of public transit and health benefits of walking and cycling too. We want to help you make informed choices that will actually make a difference to our planet and your wallet. Try the app today - free for everyone forever

Your complete travel record
You can scroll through your entire trip history in the app, and can edit details of any journey with just a couple of clicks. The app automatically calculates the carbon emissions or amount of calories you burnt for every journey.
EVCurious runs in the background on your phone to figure out when and how you're moving so you don't need to remember to open the app, or keep any records. It handles battery management by waking up only when it needs to and storing only the minimum amount of data. |
No preaching, nagging or nudging - just your own data to help you make informed decisions
The options we have and the changes we can make are unique to each one of us. So you won't find any generic, unhelpful or judgemental advice in EVCurious.
Instead, it breaks down the complex effects of your travel into the simple carbon emissions and calories for each leg. That way, you can understand the health and climate implications of each journey and see the impact of any changes you make. |
Working together to make a difference
Transport creates a quarter of all carbon emissions, so even small improvements to the transport system can have a huge environmental benefit. That's why we work in transport generating bottom data of how citizens use transport systems.
You can boost your impact by contributing your non-peronal travel information to our community data store that helps transport professionals design the system around how we actually travel. And you can make your voice heard by answering in-app questionnaires from organisations that can make a difference. |
